Jesus falls for the third time

A graphic manifestation of pain and suffering, the story told on the face of Christ, the position of his arm, and the limpness of his body. Simon it seems, continues to help while the soldier remains intent on completing the sentence. The scroll is more evident in the Priest’s hand as we come closer to posting the message of Jesus’ Kingship on the Cross. Simon’s concern shows, even while he himself is a victim of the Roman Army’s practice of impressing local citizens into menial tasks – such as carrying a cross for a condemned criminal. In contrast the soldier brutally twists Jesus’ arm to get him back on his feet. Two flowers bloom again at the foot of the cross and where Jesus falls.
