Establishing the Memorial Garden

The concept of establishing a Memorial Garden had been thought of for some years but had never lasted beyond the planning and talking stage. In 2011 two members of the parish, whose much loved spouses ashes were being stored at home, decided to act. After an initial consultation with Father Tiernan CP; then head of the community, a small committee was established. Detailed planning involving the permission of The Passionist Community, The Mitcham Council, and legal and financial advice was sort. Permission was received to place plaques with or without ashes along the existing kerbing adjacent to the existing cemetery.

The opening ceremony was held on 25th August 2013 and the garden was blessed by V. Rev. Tom Mc Donough CP, the Provincial Superior of the Passionist Holy Spirit Province.
